How & where to get married in Mexico
Well, just like in the US, Mexico wedding & marriage regulations vary by state, and sometimes by city.
Most Mexican resorts which are used to handing destination weddings in Mexico can handle all your wedding arrangements & paperwork. In Mexico, only civil wedding ceremonies are legal & these are officiated by a Justice of the Peace.
Basically for a wedding in Mexico you will need to prove who you say you are and prove that you are single and free to marry!
To get married in Mexico you will both need certified copies of your birth certificates that have been previously legalized by the Consulate of Mexico with jurisdiction over the country of birth.
Couples wanting to marry in Mexico also must bring identification cards or passports and tourist cards.
Some overseas citizens wanting a Mexico wedding will require a blood test.
If you have previously been married, you must prove that it has been one year since the official dissolution of your last marriage or since the death of your previous spouse. This will require certified copies of the divorce decree or a certified death certificate.
The couple must also have two witnesses over age 18; witnesses must be over age 18 and need to have ID.
